A morally, theologically confused ELCA Hastings, MN pastor on same sex "marriage", sin, the Bible, and true love.

Here's a very interesting piece done with two Hastings, MN pastors on the issue of same sex "marriage".

What I found astonishing was the moral and theological confusion of the Lutheran pastor Ed Fredericks on the topic of homosexuality, marriage and sin.

He said that "we have to conform to culture".  Jesus said you are not of this world.

"Very excited about this [same sex "marriage"].  Jesus said a man and a woman shall become one flesh.

He said, "We may be going against God; we maybe be..."  To think a pastor of the Gospel would make such a statement.

You can see it for yourself here.

The moral confusion comes in his understanding of sin, love, God's justice and mercy, the nature of homosexuality, etc.

His church is St. Philip's Lutheran Church in Hastings.  In their statement of faith they say, "We accept the Scriptures of the Old and New Testaments as the inspired Word of God and the authoritative source and norm of the church’s proclamation, faith, and life."

How can he in good conscience subscribe to that statement of faith with his comments in the interview, I don't know.

An eye opener to say the least.
